The delegation of the Turkish Constitutional Court, upon the invitation extended by the Federal Supreme Court of Brazil, took part in the J20 summit which convened representatives from the supreme and constitutional courts of G20 member states.

On behalf of the Turkish Constitutional Court, Justice Mr. Engin Yıldırım, Justice Mr. Muhterem İnce and Chief Rapporteur-Judge of Commissions Mr. Mehmet Sadık Yamlı participated in the Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 12-14 May 2024.

Discussions at the summit centred around the themes of “The promotion of citizenship and social inclusion by the Judiciary,” “Climate litigation and sustainable development,” and “Digital transformation and the use of technology to enhance judicial efficiency”. Justice Mr. Engin Yıldırım delivered a presentation addressing the relevant issues.

The delegation of the Turkish Constitutional Court also held bilateral meetings and exchanged views with its counterparts from the Constitutional Courts of South Africa, South Korea, Mexico and Russia.

As part of its visit to Brazil, the delegation visited the Chancellery of São Paulo and met with Mr. Gürsel Evren, Consul General of São Paulo.
