Mr. Menteş was born on 3 October 1970 in Malatya. He completed his primary, middle, and high school education respectively in Sivrice Primary School, Sivrice Secondary School and Sivrice High School in Elazığ.

Mr. Menteş enrolled in Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1988 and graduated in 1994. He started public office as a candidate judge in Elazığ in 1995. Following completion of his training, he was appointed as a judge to Denizli-Buldan in 1998. Subsequently, he served as a judge in Eskişehir-Han and Adıyaman-Gölbaşı. During his work as a judge, he served at cadastral court, magistrate’s court in civil matters, and criminal courts of first instance.

In 2006, Mr. Menteş sat as a member judge at the Diyarbakır Assize Court with special jurisdiction under Article 250 of the Criminal Procedure Code. He then sat as the presiding judge of the 1st Chamber of the Diyarbakır Assize Court and the president of the Justice Commission for Judicial Courts from 2010 to June, 2012. He was appointed by the summer decree of 2012 as the presiding judge of the 4th Chamber of the Adana Assize Court. In 2013, he was appointed to Ankara Courthouse with a decree upon excuse. He held offices as the Deputy Undersecretary at the Ministry of Justice from February 2014 to May 2017 and as the Chairman of the Commission on Examination of the State of Emergency Procedures from May 2017 to October 2017.

He served as the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Justice from 18 October 2017 to 1 July 2018. He was then appointed as the Deputy Minister of Justice on 21 July 2018.

He was appointed as a Justice of the Constitutional Court by the President of the Republic on 6 July 2019 and took office on 8 July 2019.

Mr. Selahaddin Menteş is married with two children.
