Mr. Yaşar was born in 1971 in Mecitözü. He completed his primary education in Mecitözü and his secondary and high school education in İskilip in the public boarding school. He graduated from the Faculty of Land Registry and Cadastre of Dokuz Eylül University in 1989, and from the Faculty of Law of Ankara University in 1994.

He served as the Deputy Head of the Çorum City Council between 2004 and 2009. He held office as the Head of the Human Rights and Democracy Association between 2007 and 2015. During this period, he conducted researches and gave lectures on “Kamu Güvenliği ve Özgürlükler Dengesi (The Balance between Public Security and Freedoms).”

Mr. Yaşar, who has written several books of poems and stories, contributed to the publication of a literary magazine.

He has been serving as a self-employed lawyer in Çorum since 1996. He was elected as the Chair of the Çorum Bar Association twice in October 2018 and April 2021 after holding executive positions at various levels in Çorum Bar Association.

On 15 January 2022, he was ranked 1st among the three nominees submitted to the GNAT for the justice to be elected from amongst self-employed lawyers for the Constitutional Court with the votes of the Bar presidents.

He was elected as a Justice of the Constitutional Court by the General Assembly of the GNAT on 19 January 2022 and took office on 1 February 2022. On 16 January 2024, he was elected as the Vice-President of the Court of Jurisdictional Disputes.

Mr. Kenan Yaşar is married with three children.
